Vision and Mission

To promote the doctrines of Christianity within society worldwide, whilst retaining the pursuit of those valuable cultural values and norms that are African with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Values

The Church’s leadership through it’s teaching, encourages the following values amongst the congregants (Ephesians 4: 31-32):

  • Respect: Self-respect and respect for all mankind.

  • Humility: In all aspects of dealing with any situations.

  • Tolerance: Where difference in opinions occur, and promoting of peaceful settlement at any heated situation.

  • Gentleness: To all God’s creation.

  • Caring: By offering humanitarian relief and in prayer.

  • Forgiveness: By being kind to one another, tender-hearted and forgiving as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven us.

Statement of Faith

The Church confesses faith: in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savour of the world in whom God revealed Himself. The Church therefore worships the one God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Church strives to foster the advent of the kingdom of God on earth and to prefigure God’s new creation.

The Church accepts and follows the Doctrines and Tenets practiced, preached and taught by the Prophets and Apostles of the Original and the New Testament and, in particular the following:

  • The Bible – Belief in the Bible, the original and the New Testament scriptures as the inspired word of God.

  • Trinity -Belief in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  • Salvation – Belief that Christ Jesus died on the cross to take away the sins of the world and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him.

  • The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is the price of our redemption.

  • Sanctification – Belief that sanctification means to make holy and that the Lord requires His followers to live clean, pure and holy lives.

  • Divine healing from sickness – Belief that Jesus Christ died on the cross that we may be healed from all sickness as well as saved from our sins.

  • Baptism– Belief in baptism of the Holy Spirit (with the sign of speaking in tongues). John 14: 16,17; Acts 2: 4, Acts 10: 44,46, Acts: 2: 38, 39).

  • Lord’s Supper – Belief that the Holy Communion cleanses the soul of all wickedness, and ensures forgiveness of all past sins. John 13: 4, 17; Matthew 26: 27,28)

  • Damnation – Belief that the wicked shall die and shall be resurrected to the judgment of the Lord.

  • Resurrection – Belief that the dead will be raised.

Archbishop Phelelani Givenson Nzuza (uMalusi)

  • Background
  • Work Focus
  • Beyond the Ministry

His Grace, the Archbishop Phelelani Nzuza has been at the helm of spiritual leadership of the Church of the Holy Ghost  for the past 10 years, following the demise of the late iNceku in 1995.

Following his prophetic calling at the age of nineteen (19), whilst studying towards Homeopathy in Johannesburg, he pursued studies in Psychology at the then Rand Afrikaans University and completed his Masters degree in 2004.

The Archbishop began his leadership during the significantly crucial period of the church and the country in general, on the eve of the turn of the century (1999), where the role of spirituality in the global world came under intense scrutiny (as it continues to be). He strategically led the church through major periods of change, demonstrating spiritual leadership characterized by tolerance, inclusion, cultural & time relevance, community, and stewardship.

His major work focus can be best described as “spiritual living from inside out,” as he endeavours to teach and coach others to practice daily spirituality and experience the power of life in Christ. The Archbishop’s approach and philosophy is Life is worth the Lessons. He has personally served in communities and community-based organizations where he oversaw:

  • Counseling and mental health care activities
  • Youth development and lifestyle programs
  • Family life and marital counseling

To date, His Grace still participates in community activities related to youth development and career mentorship such as the Alexandra Education Committee, Friends of Bopasenatla (Soweto), and he is a member of Lead Africa, an organization using soccer to build life skills in rural communities. He has driven large scale community investment programs through the church, such as the highly successful Khuthalani Primary School project in Stanger, where a fully-kitted science and computer laboratory was built and donated by the church (science kits and computers sponsored by the Department of Education), and is currently negotiating phase II which will see the development of a Life Centre in the school.

The Archbishop regularly features on speaking engagements in associate organizations and churches, as well as various youth bodies. He is a keen reader and speaker on youth related topics, and is involved in fellowship studies on teenage fatherhood through the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)’s Fatherhood Project. He has been featured on a radio programme twice discussing fatherhood and appeared on TV shows such as Take 5 (a youth show) and Molato ke eng (a reality TV show aimed at helping resolve various family problems).

When not doing ministry work, His Grace consults for a multinational firm, Accenture, where he specializes in organizational effectiveness, culture transformation, and leadership development projects. He has worked with clients such as SABC, Eskom, PetroSA and City of Cape Town as a consultant. A keen reader and traveler, he enjoys the bush and countryside and spends his time relaxing through spiritual and psychology books whilst adventurously visiting historical places of interest/nature reserves around the country.

His Grace is also very artistic and enjoys singing, art exhibitions & theatre, and has recently been taking piano lessons. His ambition is to direct a theatre production someday.
When at home, he loves cooking for his three younger brothers, Vusi, Thami and Njabulo.
